Experience studying at home during covid-19

Coronavirus or severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a virus that attacks the respiratory system. Coronavirus infection is called Covid - 19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019) and was first discovered in the city of Wuhan, China at the end of December 2019. This virus is spreading very quickly and has spread to almost all countries, including Indonesia, in just a few months. This has led several countries to implement policies to impose lockdowns to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. In Indonesia itself, a Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy was implemented to suppress the spread of this virus.

Online learning in Jakarta began when the Jakarta government issued a regulation to hold online lecture activities. The online lecture activity began on March 16, 2020, at that time I was in the sixth semester of college. When the online lecture took place for the first time, there were not too many difficulties because some materials had been delivered during the offline class. The online learning system for the first time only utilizes the campus learning web facilities, at this time it has not utilized video conference facilities.

The difficulty of learning online is sometimes felt when you want to do assignments or exams via the campus learning web because the server is often down. However, the difficulties are increasing day by day because it is difficult to understand some material from certain subjects and conduct scientific research online. This online scientific research is a very challenging experience. The experience was challenging due to having to do online scientific research and online tutoring. Online guidance sometimes has obstacles such as a lack of communication, not maximal in conveying the wishes of lecturers and students, and so on. Difficulties are also felt when looking for theories and learning to support scientific research.

Studying together with friends is the most helpful way to reduce these difficulties. The study together uses telephone or chat facilities through an instant messaging application for a place to exchange ideas, theories obtained, and solve difficulties together. The PSBB situation also requires campuses to conduct online research sessions, there are not too many obstacles when conducting online hearings. Entering the seventh and eighth semesters, the online learning system changed to using video conference facilities and campus learning web. The difficulty that was felt at the beginning of using video conferencing was that there were frequent network problems that resulted in the exit and entry of the video conference system.

In one day there are sometimes 3 or more courses so that learning with this system often makes you tired easily. This feeling of fatigue is felt especially in the eyes and body due to having to stare at the laptop for approximately 2 hours in one course. Online learning like this sometimes makes you feel bored and tired, but everything must be enjoyed whether you want it or not because it is a form of effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus itself. To reduce it, it may be possible to do alternative efforts such as learning by making small group games around the material, or through interactive learning videos that make it easier to understand the material. So that learning can be carried out with different variations so that it is not saturated.
